We Bought Our First House!

Thank you Pittsburgh housing market for being ridiculously cheap!  I'm only now fully comprehending its yearly award of "Most Livable City."  As most of you already know, Steve and I recently purchased a house in the Swissvale area of Pittsburgh for a cool $37,000.  One person's foreclosed misfortune is our new and exciting life as homeowners!

Yesterday we completed inspection which went exceedingly well.  Everything that matters is new which leaves us with only the aesthetics to update/replace which is what we were hoping for.  He also took the time out to show me specifically where things were "in case a worker comes knocking and your husband isn't home."  :|  But despite his failed attempts at charm and overload on sexism, he didn't nitpick and agreed that we're getting a great house for quite a steal.  There's a lot of work to be done, but Steve and I are feeling up to task.

Here are some pictures I took while we were there:

The front yard

Living Room/Stairway

Living Room Fireplace (non-working)

Dining Room

Kitchen-beautiful colors, no?  No.

Invisible Stove...oooh.  This wall will eventually come down.

Stairway to 2nd floor.  Yes, that is a piece of plywood nailed to the wall as a railing.  I say we keep it!

The previous owners seem to have ripped up the bathroom to start remodeling...but had to leave before they finished.  Lucky us-we get to tile and gut!

Master Bedroom

Second Bedroom in all it's beauty.  This is where you'll stay if you come to visit us!

The attic.  This will at first be Steve's office, but we have big, big plans to raise the roof and turn it into a third, master bedroom.  Big plans. :)

It's a pretty big attic!

Partially fenced in backyard.  PLENTY of space for Izzle and gardening!

So as you can see, we're really excited!  We'll get our closing date this week so we'll keep you all updated on how it's going, and hopefully will be putting up some before/after pics soon!
