I'd like to add one more item to my list of things I'm looking forward to post-pregnancy:
DRUGS. No, not illicit but all prescription and over-the-counter godsends that are so hard to live without. You see, in this past week I developed a fever, which turned into a headache, which turned into a double ear infection. And just for good measure I either broke or sprained a toe. So now I'm walking with a bit of a limp and am slightly deaf in both ears [cue "I'm Sexy and I Know It"]. You may not remember what it's like to have an ear infection since most adults don't actually get ear infections, but they kind of feel like someone is taking a push-pin and shoving it into your ear.
I'm now on antibiotics but most of the week was full of pain induced insomnia. Nights were spent with Beast and I in the living room catching up on old episodes of Quantum Leap (side note: I still love this show).
Steve of course, has been fantastic. He's been making dinner, taking care of the animals and practicing patience with my never ending question of "huh?" For example, the other night around 3 am he came downstairs to check in on me and we watched an episode of Quantum Leap together. Our conversation went something like this:
Me: "What are you doing up?"
Steve: "I was itchy (he's had a WICKED case of poison ivy for the past two weeks). And *mumble, mumble, mumble*" (okay, this is how I heard it).
Me: "What?"
Steve: *Mumble, mumble, mumble*"
Me: "Huh?"
Steve: "AND I WAS WORRIED ABOUT MY WIFE."
I feel like this was a glimpse into our lives together 50 years from now.
In addition to patience with my temporary hard of hearing status, Steve attended our Lamaze class that I had to miss. He even took notes and pictures of the picture boards used so we could review them together at home. I seriously, seriously love my baby daddy.
Speaking of baby, it seems that none of this has fazed this little girl. Through fever, pain and late nights with Scott Bakula, baby girl has not stopped. At our most recent check up we're told that all is well and she's measuring right on target with a strong heartbeat.
Our friends are throwing us a baby shower this weekend and I promise to get some pictures of the tiny little person outfits up for you!
